Often we see rotted sill plates, supporting columns and beams on homes and businesses that compromise the structural integrity of the building and inevitably the liability of the owner.
\nReplacement of these structural supports needs the attention someone who has experience in supporting structural loads, who is licensed and fully insured.  First and foremost, the safety of the people who own the home or building, as well as the people doing the work, is paramount.\"A<\/a><\/p>\n

\n\"A<\/a>Each job is not always the same. Sometimes the damage can easily be fixed from within the home, while other repairs can be made form the exterior of the building. Maybe it was termites that had eaten through the exterior sill plate of the home, it could be water damage behind the boiler, or possibly in a crawl space below the house; in any case, the problem can always be fixed.  An opening is made to expose the damaged section(s). This allows both access to the problem as well as determining whether or not there is more damage than what is seen from inside. In many older homes and business there are often several layers of exterior coverings to go through before the problem area can be found.<\/p>\n

\nOnce the problem has been located, the real work can begin; proper removal of the rotted and\/or damaged areas. Sometimes it may be simple as the affected sections may not be that large. For larger sections, this is where careful jacking of the structural supports needs to be done. Support structure failure is an obvious concern, however, with experience and proper preparation I can mitigate the possibility of further loss.<\/p>\n

In addition to the structural supports failing or being damaged, there is often irregular settling that has occurs over time; beams sag, floors dip and ceiling and walls crack. Part of the repair associated with sill replacement, is to bring the structure back to its original state, or as close to as possible.<\/p>\n
